African Drumming Continues

Join Westwinds for some more African Drumming!

Although this is a continuation of the first class, NO EXPERIENCE is necessary. Bring your friends and loved ones! We’ll do a review of the concepts learned in the first class, which should be enough for newcomers, and then we’ll continue on by learning a traditional West African rhythm.

If you have your own djembe – please feel free to bring it – otherwise, drums are provided.

Don’t miss out! This will be the last class offered prior to the Christmas break. If there is enough interest, we will consider a ‘mini-series’ during the winter.

If possible, try to arrive a few minutes early so we can move the drums.

Cost: $20 available on universe.com or pay $20 at the door.

CIAS Kickstart Party Saturday September 29, 2018

You’re Invited to the Cochrane Integrated Arts Society Kickstart Party!

Come to the Showcase Display and explore the arts Cochrane has to offer Saturday, Sept 29, 2-5 pm at the Cochrane Ranche Clubhouse Activity Centre.

Pick up a Passport at any of the participating venues in Cochrane  or print it here,  (includes all instructions/map) and travel to as many venues as possible to collect your stamps. You have to get it back to the Clubhouse before 4pm for the Prize Draw! (Note: The Passport Conctest starts Friday so you can get a jump on those stamps!)

See the CIAS website for more details about the Passport Contest, the Showcase Display, live music, the Interactive Wall of Arts and more. Refreshments included.

Cochrane Music Society members will be busy Saturday afternoon at their Jumpstart Workshop but we are supporting the Kickstart Party in three ways:

  1. Choral Waves is having their workshop at the Nan Boothby library as a Passport Contest venue
  2. CMS has a booth in the Showcase Display at the Clubhouse
  3. River Reeds will entertain at the Clubhouse 2:45-3:15pm.

Thanks so much to all the CMS members who are helping to make this CIAS event a success!
