This is a special invitation to attend an Open House showing the conceptual design for a Cochrane Community Arts Centre. Many of you have shared your vision for an arts centre with us in the past either through surveys or by attending a workshop or interview with the architect this past year.
The Feasibility Study is now completed and was presented to and accepted by town council on September 27th and is available online for downloading at the following URL: http://www.artscochrane.com/uploads/events/2010artscenterstudy.pdf
We would be very happy to discuss this study and to hear your comments at one of the two upcoming Open Houses.
Here is a brief description of the current status of the project as well as a Volunteer Sign-Up form, if you'd like to become more involved in this exciting project.

Cochrane Music Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 8:30pm in the Bow Valley High School Music Room.
The agenda includes:
- President’s Report,
- Artistic Director’s Report,
- Audit Committee Report of the audit of the 2009-2010 financial records, and
- Election of the society Board of Directors for the 2010-2011 term.
Be sure to have your membership registration forms and fees submitted before the AGM so that you will be “members in good standing” and able to vote at the AGM.
Jumpstart Workshop is back with concert band and choral ensembles, but this year it is just for CMS members. Riverside Jazz members – please join the concert band…or the choir if you prefer.

BBQ & Social 5:00pm
Rob Billington and the guest conductor will each have time with both ensembles and will focus on pieces that we are preparing for our concerts. The workshop will help us to develop our ability to express the interpretation that each conductor brings to the music.
A delicious BBQ supper and fun social will follow the workshop. Take advantage of this opportunity to get to know people from other ensembles.
The whole event is free!
CMS is funding this workshop for its members. The only request is a potluck donation to the supper (band members please bring a salad, choir members please bring a dessert) to share with your musical friends.
Registration deadline is September 20, 2010.
Jumpstart Workshop 2010 will only run with a high level of participation. Membership fees must be paid to register. Either respond to the news post, or print and complete the poster-form and give it to your ensemble representative.

Planning to join The Undercurrents (Beginner Concert Band)? Please let us know ASAP by using the on-line form on the Contact Us page of the website. We need to know how many people are interested as this ensemble can only be supported if there is sufficient registration. If you are unsure whether you would fit in, please be assured that new members in this ensemble have greatly varied backgrounds. Some have no musical experience at all, some played many years ago and want to pick up their instrument again and others to want to learn a new instrument.
